2nd Turkish World Theatre Days, organized by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality between 7 and 11 March 2016, introduced many nice plays to the art-lovers in Mersin.

The opening ceremony of the program, which was held in Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Congress and Exhibition Centre, was attended by Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Burhanettin Kocamaz, Deputy Governor Shukru Yildiz, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Guzelyurt Municipality Director of Cultural Affairs Suleyman Aldag, Former Governor of Mersin Akif Tıg, attaches of TRNC Consulate in Mersin, council members and many citizens.

During “2nd Turkish World Theatre Days”, which brought art-lovers together for five days, TRNC Güzelyurt Municipality Theatre Group staged “Dedemin Paracıkları” (Money of My Granddad); Mersin Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre played “Bugün Git Yarın Gel” (Go Today, Come Back Tomorrow), while Iranian Turkish Theatre actors acted in “Bire Onbeş Var” (Fifteen to One), Syria Theatre Group staged “Kukla” (Puppet) and Iraq Erbil Theatre “Şehrimden Geçmiş Günler” (Days Passed From my City).

While underlining the importance of staging theatre plays that belong to different cultures in Mersin for both introducing those cultures to the society and wide spreading theatre art to large masses, Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Burhanettin Kocamaz added: “We are very happy and honored to host theatre actors and actresses coming from TRNC, Iran, Iraq and Syria. Within the concept of 2nd Turkish World Theatre Days we watched very nice plays. I thank to all the contributors and the citizens of Mersin who filled the hall.”
