This year “Turkish World Urbanism Congress”, which TDBB was among the organizer institutions, was held in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan.
Organized biennially, 6th Turkish World Congress, which aims to create an architectural standard according to the inherited artifacts of Turks by introducing the architectural perspective of Turkish-Islamic Cities from Qeshqer to Andalusia, was held in Kyrgyzstan between September 2 and 5, with the theme of “Overseas Projects”.
In the opening session of Congress, which was organized by Union of Turkish World Architects and Engineers (TDMMB), Mayor of Bishkek Metropolitan Municipality Kubanıçbek Kulmatov, President of Architecture Urbanism and Construction Agency Turdubek Manbetov, Kyrgyzstan Ambassador of Turkey Metin Kılıç and Chairman of Congress Executive Council Mehmet Cahit Turhan gave speeches. As the members of TDBB, the congress was participated by Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu Phd., Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz and General Secretary of TDBB Fahri Solak, as well as committees from Kocaeli, Ankara, Keçiören, Kayseri Talas Municipalities. Besides many rectors and scholars and prominent figures of education, literature, engineering, architecture, urbanism, art and culture areas attended to the organization.
TDBB’s “Identity and Personality Cities Municipal Exhibition” and Panel Organization
TDBB arranged an exhibition namely “Identity and Personality Cities Municipal Exhibition” and a session “Local Governments in Turkish World” in the Congress, in which many other sessions on new projects, local governments, Turkish culture, developing republics, engineering, architecture and urbanism standards took place.
The exhibition was participated by the unique projects of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, Pendik Municipality, Keçiören Municipality, Selçuklu Municipality, Safranbolu Municipality and Talas Municipality. Bishkek Atatürk Park Renewal Project, prepared by the cooperation of TDBB and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was also exhibited.
The session “Local Governments in Turkish World”, with the chairmanship of TDBB General Secretary Fahri Solak, was carried out with the presentations of Republic of Kyrgyzstan Local Governments Agency Consultant Sanjar İkramov, Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz, Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu, Vice-President of International Cengiz Aytmatov Forum Baktıgül Kalambekova, and President of Cengiz Orda Memorial Complex Association Kamçıbek Abıldiev.
Trabzon and Bishkek have become Sister Cities
While present within the Congress organization, Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu Phd. and Mayor of Bishkek Metropolitan Municipality Kubanıçbek Kulmatov signed sister city protocol.
