Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) March Administrative Board Meeting was held in Istanbul on March 21, 2023, with the participation of 24 local administrators from 8 different countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Lebanon, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and Turkey) at TDBB Headquarters.
The meeting, under the chairmanship of President of TDBB and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, was attended by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, TDBB Administrative Board Members Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Mayor of Rize Rahmi Metin, General Manager of Institute for Albanian Municipalities Agron Haxhimali, Bosnia and Herzegovina Mayor of Novi Grad Semir Efendic, General Manager of Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Governments Bektur Orozbaev, North Macedonia Mayor of Tetovo Bilal Kasami, Lebanon President of Union of Dannieh Municipalities Muhammed Saadieh, Mongolia President of Association of Local Authorities Batbold Sundui, Uzbekistan Mayor of Kokand Maruf Usmanov, Mayor of Altınova (Yalova) Dr. Metin Oral, Mayor of Bağcılar (Istanbul) Abdullah Özdemir, Mayor of Başiskele (Kocaeli) Mehmet Yasin Özlü, Mayor of Bayrampaşa (Istanbul) Atila Aydıner, Mayor of Beykoz (Istanbul) Murat Aydın, Mayor of Karatay (Konya) Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Osmangazi (Bursa) Mustafa Dündar, Mayor of Pendik (Istanbul) Ahmet Cin, Mayor of Selçuklu (Konya) Ahmet Pekyatımcı, Mayor of Silivri (Istanbul) Volkan Yılmaz, Mayor of Şehzadeler (Manisa) Ömer Faruk Çelik, Mayor of Tavşanlı (Kütahya) Mustafa Güler, Mayor of Ümraniye (Istanbul) İsmet Yıldırım, Mayor of Meram Mustafa Kavuş and Mayor of Zeytinburnu (Istanbul) Ömer Arısoy.
At the meeting, representatives of countries gave information about their aid and work to Turkey due to the earthquake that occurred in Turkey, and mentioned their condolences.
The meeting continued after TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak gave information about the work carried out since the Administrative Board Meeting on 9 December 2022 and the agenda, Member States and Municipalities informed the delegation about the work carried out in February,6 Turkey earthquake and mentioned their condolences, and then discussed the issues on the agenda.
Within this framework, it was decided to complete the unfinished Islamic Center Project in Mestanlı, Bulgaria, in cooperation with TDBB and Member municipalities, to carry out work to strengthen the relations of Mongolia’s Bayan-Ulgii Municipality with its sister cities in Turkey, to establish a sister city relationship between the Municipality of Tuv (Mongolia) and a municipality deemed appropriate in Turkey, to realize the request of the Mongolian Association of Local Authorities to organize an expert training program for the experts working in the media units of Mongolian municipalities on an appropriate date, to carry out work to establish sister city relations between the Palestinian Gaza Municipalities and the municipalities in Turkey, to establish a sister city relationship between Mongolia’s Karakurum Municipality and Altınova (Yalova) Municipality, and between Kyrgyzstan’s Çolpan-Ata Municipality and Başiskele Municipality, to realize student internship request of Kyrgyzstan – Turkey Manas University in the summer term of 2023, to carry out work on signing a cooperation protocol between TDBB and the Organization of Turkish States (TDT) and TURKSOY, to organize a Program during the year due to the 20th Anniversary of TDBB, to conduct work for the “TDBB Young Local Administrators Summer School” Project, to exempt members who were affected by the earthquake from membership fees of 2023, and also to accept the membership applications of Bosanska Krup (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Municipality, Samarkand (Uzbekistan) Municipality, Adado (Somalia) Municipality and Kağıthane (Istanbul) Municipality to TDBB.
The meeting was concluded with the presentation of membership certificates to the municipalities abroad that became members of TDBB in 2023 and a family photo taken to commemorate the day.
