With the cooperation of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Konya’s Selçuklu Municipality classroom for the Turkish Language was opened in primary school Edhem Mulabdic as part of the project “My choice is Turkish” with the opening ceremony organized in Novi Travnik on October 10, 2017.
Mayor of Novi Travnik Lendo Refik, deputy-mayor of Selçuklu Municipality Ziya Yalçınkaya, head of the department for foreign affairs of Selçuklu Municipality Ayhan Gürbüzer, two Selçuklu municipality council members, head of Yunus Emre Institute in Sarajevo Mehmet Akif Yaman and many other participants have attended the opening ceremony in Novi Travnik.
Edhem Mulabdic school principal Nedzada Tolja in her speech said that among 400 students in school, approximately 200 of them attend to Turkish Language classes. Tolja thanked TDBB, Municipality of Selçuklu and Yunus Emre Institute for making possible for students to study the language in modern environment and added how school building was restored by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA)
Mayor of Novi Travnik Refik Lendo pointed out that students who learn the Turkish Language further strengthen the relations between two countries.
Deputy-mayor of Selçuklu said that he is very happy to be part of Yunus Emre’s Project “My Choice is Turkish” that introduces Turkish culture and language to Bosnians.
Head of Yunus Emre Institute’s Sarajevo Office Mehmet Akif Yaman shared information that in 150 schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina some 8.500 students learn Turkish language.
Schoolkids prepared a performance for the guests from Turkey. During the programme, some school bags and other education supplies were distributed to students as well.
