Organized in cooperation with Turkish Language Society and Ege University Institute of Turkish World Studies, and supported by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) as one of the supportive institutions, ‘III. International Turkish World Culture Congress’ was held in İzmir, Çeşme between 19 and 23 October 2015 with the theme “Dede Korkut and Turkish World”.

The Congress, which was supported by institutions like Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), UNESCO Turkish National Commission, Yunus Emre Institute, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), TURKSOY, Turkic Council, Turkic Academy and TRT Avaz, was attended by over 300 academicians from 65 universities of 20 countries expert in Turkish Language and Literature, performing 225 presentations.

In the Congress, started with the opening program in October 19, President of Turkish Language Society Prof. Mustafa S. Kaçalin thanked to supportive institutions and scholars for their contributions to the Congress. Kaçalin stated that The Book of Dede Korkut had its own characteristics and he added that the most important characteristic of this book was that it wasn’t a translated book but compiled one in Turkish.

Within the social programs of the Congress, which was also attended by Great musician Musa Eroğlu, Ege University Turkish Folk Dances Department performed a show, and musicians and artists coming from Bashkortostan, Khakasia, Tuva, Kyrgyzstan, Yakutia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan made performances on Turkish Culture. The artists coming from different countries to perform shows during the congress were presented plaques.

The materials, book stands and yoruk clothes that introduced Turkish Culture in congress area changed the atmosphere of the congress. Arrow-arc, sword-shield sets, many musical instruments like lute, and handicrafts like marbling brought the guests to a Central Asia journey.

At the last day of the congress scholars of four generations made evaluations about Dede Korkut. Prof. Saadettin Özçelik, Prof. Gürer Gülsevin and Prof. Şeref Boyraz, members from Turkish Language Society, Scientific Board and Dede Korkut Committee, evaluated the congress.
