Turkish World Special Athletes Sports and Culture Festival held on 26-27 October 2023 and organized by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Board Member Silivri Municipality and Turkey Special Athletes Sports Federation, hosted special athletes from 7 countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, TRNC, Kosovo, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Turkey).
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Silivri Mayor Volkan Yılmaz said; ‘Today we came together with our special athletes from the Turkish World. “I share with you the happiness of being together at the Turkish World Special Athletes Sports and Culture Festival, which was held in cooperation with the Turkish Special Athletes Federation and Silivri Municipality, within the scope of the 100th Anniversary events of the Republic of Turkey, a first in the world, and I welcome our representatives from seven countries,” he said.
Federation President Mr. Birol Aydın said, ‘I extend my greetings to the people of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, I welcome you all. This organization is a first in Turkey. “I would like to thank everyone who contributed, especially the Mayor of Silivri, Mr. Volkan Yılmaz, who opened his door to us,” he said.
Within the scope of the Turkish World Special Athletes Sports and Culture Festival; Table Tennis Competition, Athletics Competition, Swimming Competition, Futsal Demonstration Match, School Sports Arm Wrestling Tournament and School Sports Athletics Competitions were held.
Nearly 200 athletes with Down Syndrome from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, TRNC, Kosovo, Hungary, Uzbekistan and Turkey competed in the event hosted by Silivri Municipality.
