Members of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Olovo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Municipality and Karatay (Konya) Municipality shared their experiences on thermal facilities and spa tourism.
The program held in Olovo between 6 and 9 October 2022 was attended by Deputy Mayors of Karatay Municipality Ramazan Şevik and Mustafa Yaylacı, General Manager of Karatay Thermal Facility Serkan Ersoy and Karatay Municipality Geology Engineer Fatma Şen.
After visiting the thermal fields in Olovo as part of the visit, the delegation met with Mayor of Olovo Demal Memagic and municipal administrators on 7 October 2022. During the meeting, the thermal facility project of Olovo Municipality was discussed and concrete suggestions were made to strengthen the cooperation between the two municipalities in this field.
During the meeting, Mayor of Olovo Memagic thanked the guest delegation and informed the Karatay Municipality delegation about the economic situation in the city, touristic potential and the development projects of Olovo Municipality. Mayor Memagic stated that they aim to bring the existing thermal potential in Olovo to tourism, especially by making use of the experiences of Karatay Municipality regarding thermal springs. It was decided to take mutual steps to continue cooperation for investments in the tourism sector, especially expanding the accommodation capacity of Aquaterm Public Health Institution Spa and Recreation Center.
The meeting was concluded with the exchange of gifts and a photo shoot to commemorate the day.
