Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and its Administrative Board Member Bağcılar Municipality cooperatively organized an iftar program in Almaty city of Kazakhstan on 8 June 2017.

Brotherhood Meals, prepared cooperatively by Almaty and Almali Municipalities of Kazakhstan which are sister cities of Bağcılar Municipality, gathered almost one thousand guests at the same organization.

Talking at the iftar organization, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı stated that people have been living with their Kazakh brothers for 40 years. Thanking President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev for their efforts for the development of the relations between two sister countries, Çağırıcı added: “We are very thankful to Allah for being Muslim and for being the children of Muslim parents. As the ancestor of all of us, we can see the marks of Hodja Ahmad Yasawi in Turkey. I am very happy to continue the tradition of Brotherhood Meals that we have started 12 years ago as Bağcılar Municipality.”

On the other hand Almaty Consul General of Turkey Rıza Kağan Yılmaz underlined the fact that two brother nations whose roots intersect, come together with these iftar programs. Reminding the audience that Çağırıcı talked about the wish to make the world better with the common culture and traditions starting from Hodja Ahmad Yasawi to recent Presidents, Yılmaz commented as “Our brotherhood continues for centuries. In the past our ancestors had lived together. Hodja Ahmad Yasawi is our shared value.”

Furthermore, Deputy Mayor of Almalı Municipality Ermek Beyseuf mentioned the gladness he felt for the iftar program and thanked President Erdoğan and President of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev who strengthened the brotherhood between two countries.

Besides, Melomen Religious Hymn Group colored the program with their hymns.
