The Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) with its many prestige academic publications until now has contributed one more: Ahmet Yassawi and Divan-i Hikmet (Poems of Wisdom).
Khoja Ahmed Yassawi was great intellectual who has put a very important contribution to the enrichment and development of Turkish language and culture from Turkestan to Anatolia and Balkans. Khoja Ahmed Yassawi has made important contributions in spread of Islam and in rooting morality and spirituality; he was a scholar and poet, whose wisdom-style poetry and literature has brought an important mission in Turkish language and literature. With its spread effects over wide geography due to its meaningful fellows and its existence in 12th century in Central Asia, Ahmet Yassawi’s most famous work: Divan-i Hikmet’s new edition was introduced to the readers thanks to the cooperation between TDBB and the Ahmed Yassawi University.
Due to UNESCO’s 2016 inclusions Ahmed Yassawi’s 850th Death anniversary to the Program Memorial Celebration Anniversary which carries a common value for all humanity, Ahmed Yassawi University and Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) published this book, where the original writings of Ahmed Yassawi’s aphorisms, were presented to the readers in the form of contemporary letters and translation to contemporary Turkish language in 3 versions.
191-page book which also includes Yassawi’s life, his other works, tales and information about Yassawi culture will provide benefits to the researchers and general readers in terms of being one of the primary sources.
