The periodical prepared by the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) will continue its publication life with a new name and renewed approach, covering the union’s activities and developments in the countries where its member municipalities are located. Published quarterly in two languages, the magazine will meet its readers under the new name “Turkish World”.
The renewed TDBB publication, “Turkish World” magazine, offers a perspective that considers Turkish world cities as a whole, highlights the global role of local governments, and aims to strengthen intercity cooperation.
In this context, the magazine includes content on the activities of TDBB, the work of member municipalities towards friendly and sister countries, and shared cultural heritage.
The cover of the first issue features highlights from an interview with TDBB and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay on the topic of “Turkish Municipalities in Global City Networks”. Mayor Altay’s article titled “The New Role of Local Governments in the Turkish World” is also among the prominent articles in the magazine.
This issue also covers topics such as shared city networks, regional development, social municipalism, urban sociology, and urban identity, as well as the historical and cultural ties between Konya and Samarkand and the heritage of Turkestan.
In its new publication period, the Turkish World journal aims to offer multi-dimensional content by highlighting not only the physical development of cities but also their cultural depth and international cooperation capacity.
