The “Uzbekistan Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction Expert Training Program,” organized by the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) in cooperation with Ümraniye Municipality and Şahinbey Municipality, was held in Istanbul and Gaziantep between 8–12 February 2026.
The program was attended by Deputy Head of Department of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, Mukhtor Shonazarov; ministry expert Ravshanjon Otaboyev; and Head of Department of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, Shahzod Abdulatipov.
On the first day of the program, 9 February 2026, the delegation visited the Basic Needs Association (TİDER) in Istanbul and received information about food banking and social support activities.
On the second day, the experts visited Ümraniye Municipality and attended a presentation titled “Food Banking and Social Assistance Activities.” During the subsequent field visit, they observed local government practices aimed at reducing poverty.
On the same day, the delegation also visited the TDBB and met with Secretary General Taha Zahid Özdemir. During the meeting, information was shared about the Union’s activities and the work carried out within the scope of the program.
On the final day of the program, Thursday, 12 February 2026, the delegation visited Şahinbey Municipality. Following a presentation on “Food Banking and Social Assistance Activities,” a field visit was conducted to examine exemplary projects.
After visiting Istanbul’s historical and cultural sites on Friday, 13 February 2026, the delegation returned to their country on Saturday, 14 February 2026, concluding the program.
