About Hebron:
Hebron (Arabic: Al-Khalil) is a historic and sacred Palestinian city located in the West Bank and is today one of the largest cities in Palestine with a population of approximately 160,000. The city has been the center of various conflicts and wars for centuries. In the modern period, an attack at the Ibrahimi Mosque on 25 February 1994 resulted in the deaths of 29 Palestinians and injuries to hundreds of others.
Due to the large-scale conflicts ongoing since 7 October 2023 and Israel’s occupation attempts, thousands of Palestinians have lost their lives across the West Bank; it has been reported that 1,034 Palestinians were killed in the period between 7 October 2023 and 1 December 2025, including children. In Hebron, clashes, military operations, and settler–soldier violence have led to increased home demolitions, forced displacements, and infrastructure damage, and living conditions have worsened in some areas, including the historic quarters in the city center. This situation, combined with economic stagnation and disruption in trade circulation, has been straining Hebron’s physical and social fabric.
