In North Macedonia, one of the Balkan members of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), citizens went to the polls on Sunday, October 19, 2025, to elect mayors and municipal council members. TDBB Executive Board Member and Mayor of Tetova (Kalkandelen), Bilal Kasami, was re-elected with approximately 54.77 % of the votes.

A total of 1,832,415 registered voters cast their ballots at 3,480 polling stations across the country. In these elections, mayors and municipal council members were elected in 81 municipalities. While 309 candidates competed for mayoral positions, thousands of others ran for municipal council seats.

According to data announced by the State Election Commission (SEC), voter turnout stood at 39.87 %. However, opposition sources reported a higher turnout of 46.65 %.

According to unofficial results, the VMRO-DPMNE coalition emerged as the clear winner in the local elections, coming first in 54 out of 81 municipalities nationwide. The SDSM won in nine municipalities, while the Turkish Democratic Party (TDP) achieved victory in one municipality.

In some areas, election results were declared invalid due to insufficient voter turnout. In particular, new elections were ordered in the municipalities of Centar Zupa, Mavrova-Rostuše, and Vrapčište, where participation rates remained low.

A second round of elections will be held on November 2, 2025, in municipalities where no candidate received more than 50 % of the votes in the first round.
