The “From Poverty to Prosperity: Uzbekistan 3rd International Poverty Reduction Forum” was held in Namangan, Uzbekistan, a member of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), on September 17–18, 2025. At the opening ceremony, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev shared important information about the country’s poverty reduction strategies.
The forum was attended by representatives of the Uzbekistan Ministry of Economy and Finance, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank, as well as representatives of more than 30 countries and international organizations, and over 200 experts.
The delegation from Turkey included representatives from the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and TİKA, along with TDBB Secretary General Dr. Fahri Solak.
The forum discussed concrete projects such as improving infrastructure in rural areas, expanding road, health, and education services, and increasing economic opportunities. In his speech, President Mirziyoyev stated that through reforms, about 7.5 million people had been lifted out of poverty, that the poverty rate had dropped to 8.9% in 2024, and that the goal was to reduce this rate to 6% by the end of the year. He also emphasized the determination to completely eradicate absolute poverty by 2030.
Within the framework of the forum, seven priority areas of the “From Poverty to Prosperity” program were addressed. These included creating sustainable sources of income, ensuring permanent employment, strengthening women’s participation in social life, expanding education and health services, and developing social protection mechanisms.
Over the course of two days, in 15 sessions, 45 speakers shared their views on supporting vulnerable groups, expanding economic opportunities, and strengthening cooperation at local, national, and global levels.
