The “International Güzelyurt Art Meeting,” organized for the fourth time this year by Güzelyurt Municipality – a member of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) – and supported by TDBB, took place in Güzelyurt (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus – TRNC) from July 6 to 13, 2025.
The event was organized under the curatorship of Dr. Arif Albayrak and Mustafa Cihangir, and coordinated by Hascen Doğan Esenyel. Artists from Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, TRNC, and Turkey expressed their art through paintings during the meeting.
As part of the “4th International Güzelyurt Art Meeting,” an exhibition featuring the artworks created by the artists during the workshop was opened with the participation of Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the Republic Assembly.
Speaking at the opening held at the Güzelyurt Exhibition Hall, Öztürkler expressed his pleasure at the participation of artists from many countries, emphasizing that the universal language of art builds bridges between societies. He also called on artists, stating that they have begun to decorate the walls of the new Republic Assembly building with works by Turkish Cypriot artists.
Öztürkler added that in the past two weeks, efforts have been underway to include works by Cypriot artists on the walls of the new Assembly building: “We now have more space in this area, and we are embracing and exhibiting these works. I invite you to take part in this process and contribute your artworks to the Assembly”.
Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar stated in his opening speech that this was the fourth edition of the International Güzelyurt Art Meeting. He also announced plans to launch an art museum project that will gather all the artworks produced so far under one roof. Noting that the artists had created remarkable works during the event, Özçınar expressed his gratitude to all the participating artists.
