Under the coordination of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), sister city protocol was signed between Karatay Municipality (Turkey) and Sauran Municipality (Kazakhstan) at a ceremony hosted by Karatay Municipality in Konya on 19 November 2024.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca, Mayor of Sauran Maksat Tangatarov, Sauran Municipality Advisor Jumadullaev Muhamedzhan, Head of the Entrepreneurship and Tourism Department of Sauran Municipality Shakirov Sultangali, Head of the Land Affairs Department of Sauran Municipality Patsaev Asylbek, and other guests.
Highlighting the importance of signing this cooperation protocol in the context of strengthening the historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between Turkey and Kazakhstan, Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca said, “Kazakhstan has always held a special place in our hearts. We are two brotherly states but one nation. As Karatay Municipality, we are ready to do our part for our brothers and sisters with whom we are as inseparable as flesh and bone and to implement joint projects to foster cooperation between the two cities.”
In his speech at the signing ceremony, Mayor of Sauran Maksat Tangatarov said, “Konya is a very beautiful and special city. It is a great pleasure for us to meet such wonderful people in Konya, a city we have found to be highly developed. I had the opportunity to learn a little about Karatay’s history and discovered that it is advanced in agriculture, tourism, industry, and many other areas. As Sauran Municipality, we decided to sign a protocol with Karatay Municipality, believing that Karatay’s achievements would contribute to our bilateral relations. Through this cooperation protocol, we hope to benefit from your experience, especially in agriculture, livestock farming, tourism, and municipal services. I would like to thank Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca for their support in this regard.”
The delegation from Kazakhstan visited Mayor of Karatay Hasan Kılca in his office and, following the signing of the cooperation protocol, had the opportunity to examine the services, investments, and unique projects brought to the district by Karatay Municipality on-site.
Sauran Delegation Visited TDBB
Kazakhstan’s Mayor of Sauran Maksat Tangatarov and his delegation, who came to Karatay for the signing ceremony under the coordination of TDBB, visited TDBB and met with Secretary General Fahri Solak. During the meeting, cooperation opportunities between Sauran Municipality and TDBB within the framework of Sister City relations were evaluated.
