The 9th Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Tourism of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held on 25 September 2024 in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, Celal-Abad, one of the members of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Kyrgyzstan, was declared “Tourism Capital of the Turkic World” for 2025.

The meeting was hosted by Mr. Maksat Usubaliev, Director of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic, and attended by Mirvokhid Azimov, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, Tilek Tekebaev, Full Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jalal-Abad Region, high-level representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Hungary.

In line with the proposal made by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov at the 10th OTS Leaders’ Summit in Astana on November 3, 2023, the city of Jalal-Abad was declared the “Tourism Capital of the Turkic World” for 2025, and the parties approved a Roadmap outlining various conferences, festivals and events to be held in the city next year.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the exploration of the potential of Silk Road Tourism, implementation of the initiatives “Tourism Capital of the Turkic World” and Tabarruk Ziyarat, launch and promotion of the new website www.turkicsilkroad.com, establishment of the OTS Ski Resorts Association, realization of investment projects in the field of tourism, organization of training programs and other issues of cooperation in the field of tourism within the OTS.

The Heads of Delegations emphasized both bilateral and multilateral aspects of tourism cooperation in the Turkic World, noted the importance of increasing tourist mobility among the OTS Member and Observer States and presented their proposals for future plans and projects within the framework of the OTS.

The sides also agreed to hold the 10th Meeting of the OTS Tourism Ministers in Turkey in 2025.
