The “Gagauz Korafi 2024 – National Culture Festival,” organized by Presidency of Gagauz Autonomous Region, by one of the Moldovan members of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), took place on 7 September 2024, in Kongaz with various events. The festival was attended by Secretary General Fahri Solak, on behalf of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB).

The festival featured exhibitions of carpets and antique silk towels, a fashion show of traditional Gagauz attire, as well as numerous other events and concerts. Additionally, there was an exhibition that showed decorative and applied arts, as well as thematic workshops for children.

During her speech at the festival’s opening, President of the Gagauz Autonomous Region, Evgenia Gutsul, emphasized the importance of the event. President Gutsul said, “I warmly welcome the people of Gagauzia, as well as guests from neighboring regions and Turkey, who have come to share this joy with us. I call on the people living in the autonomous region to remember and preserve the traditions we inherited from our ancestors and to teach the Gagauz language to our children.”

Meeting with the President of Gagauzia Gutsul

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, who was in Comrat to attend the “Gagauz Korafi 2024 – National Culture Festival,” held a meeting with the President of Gagauzia, Eugenia Gutsul, at her office. During the meeting, Gutsul referred to the topics discussed at the July meeting of the TDBB Administrative Board and emphasized the importance of organizing experience sharing programs for the mayors of Gagauzia. The Governor of the Comrat region also provided information about potential cultural events and other cooperation opportunities that could be undertaken with TDBB.

Membership Certificate for Kongaz Municipality

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak also met with Ivan Mihail Esir, the Mayor of Kongaz in the Gagauz Autonomous Region. During the meeting, in addition to exchanging views, TDBB membership certificate was presented.
