Kyrgyzstan’s Jeti Öğüz Mayor Ermek Bahavadınov and his accompanying delegation visited the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) on 14 February 2024.

Jeti-Ögüz Mayor Ermek Bahavadınov, Kyrgyz Republic Istanbul Consul General Lira Sıdıkova, Kızıl-Suu Town Municipality Council President Gülsun Çınybaeva, Barkson Town Mayor Algabas Asanbayev, Painter Kencegul Sıdıkov in charge of the Barkson Mahmut Kashgari Monument Project, State Underground Resources Department Jeti – Ögüz District Director Nurbek Alıev and Jeti Ögüz Public Administration Department Head Maksat Rahatbekov attended.

During the visit, the delegation met with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak. Expressing their satisfaction with the visit, Fahri Solak stated that Kyrgyzstan is one of the member countries with which TDBB cooperates most actively and gave information about completed and ongoing projects.

Jeti Ögüz Mayor Ermek Bahavidinov also stated at the meeting that they signed a sister city protocol with a municipality outside Kyrgyzstan for the first time under the coordination of TDBB and that they had a nice program in Turkey. Mayor Bahavadınov thanked TDBB for its contribution to the sister city protocol signed between Jeti Öğüz Municipality and Bağcılar Municipality and said: Barskan Town is located in our city. We allocated a 20-decare land for the monument and museum complex planned to be built here. We believe that with the implementation of this project, our district will become an important tourism destination in Kyrgyzstan. We are pleased to be here and meet you,” he said.

The visit ended with exchanging gifts and taking a group photo.

The delegation’s Turkey program was completed on Thursday, February 15, 2024, with a cultural tour of the historical places of Istanbul, visiting Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosques, Spice Bazaar, Grand Bazaar, etc., and then returning to their country.
