We also hope that the massacre in Gaza, for which the whole world remains silent, will end as soon as possible. We will always continue to stand by our brothers. Today is an important day for TDBB. We are signing a cooperation protocol between the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and the Ministry of Labor and Poverty Alleviation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mahallabay Labor and Entrepreneurship Development Agency. The good relations that have developed between the two countries in recent years have created new cooperation possibilities and new opportunities between all units. We, as TDBB, express that we are ready to make every effort to ensure that Turkey’s municipal experience makes the lives of our brothers in Uzbekistan easier. I would like to thank them especially for the warm interest and understanding shown by the Uzbekistan side. I hope that this protocol we signed will open a new page for our countries and local governments. I express that we want to visit Uzbekistan after the local elections in Turkey. Improving our relations with Uzbekistan is one of our most important agendas. I wish our cooperation protocol to be beneficial and I would like to thank all participating friends,” he said.

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Mukhtor Shonazarov, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Mahallabay Labor and Entrepreneurship Development Agency, stated that he was honored to greet the President and Board Members of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities. Shonazarov continued his speech: “I would like to thank the Union management for providing me with the opportunity to attend the Board of Directors meeting of this influential organization that brings together the Municipalities of the Turkic World, which is extremely important for Uzbekistan. Mahallabay Labor and Entrepreneurship Development Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a state body authorized in the field of formation and implementation of our state’s policy on the support and development of local services and entrepreneurship in district Municipalities and economic development. Today, there are 9,443 district and town municipalities in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In each of them, deputy mayors serve, who are under the responsibility of the municipalities and are also coordinated by our agency. Their main task is to solve the socio-economic problems of the population and support existing entrepreneurship, involving the public in business. Today, we propose to the members of the Board of Directors of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities to consider a broader cooperation format that includes public-private partnerships based on the interaction of municipalities’ regions with entrepreneurs, expanding traditional boundaries. We also propose to help entrepreneurs increase their international expansion potential in the current format by emphasizing the role of municipalities in establishing strong ties between business communities in TDBB member countries. In this context, we request the TDBB Administration to provide support to the mayors and deputy mayors of Uzbekistan in examining the experience of Turkish municipalities in their interaction with the business world. This is an important step towards strengthening the interaction between business and municipalities, which are the main drivers of the economic development of the regions of both countries. Today is a really important and meaningful day for us. I would like to state that we are honored to sign the cooperation protocol with the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB). We thank all the participants who attended the meeting today,” he said.

After the Protocol signing ceremony, the Uzbekistan delegation visited TDBB and met with Secretary General Fahri Solak. During the visit, joint work that could be done within the framework of the Protocol signed between the two institutions was discussed.
