Altındağ Municipality, member of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), has constructed a cultural center in Comrat, the capital city of Gagauz Autonomous Region. The ground breaking ceremony of the Cultural Center was held on 13 October 2017 with the participation of Veysel Tiryaki, Mayor of Altındağ Municipality and Irina Vlah, President of Gagauz Autonomous Region.

Serghei Anastasov (Mayor of Comrat Municipality), Hulusi Kılıç (Turkish Ambassador to Chisinau), Hasan Akgün (Mayor of Büyükçekmece Municipality), Hayrettin Güngör (General Secretary of TBB), Cebrail Aslan (Deputy Mayor of Altındağ Municipality) and many guests were attended to the ceremony.

Irina Vlah, President of Gagauzia, stated that, “We always feel support of Turkey. Despite the long distance between Turkey and Gagauzia, we deeply feel the sincerity of Turkey to the Gagauz Turks. I would like to thank to Altındağ Municipality and its distinguished mayor, Mr. Veysel Tiryaki. I wish that this cultural center will be very beneficial especially for our younger citizens and I believe that this center will be served as a cultural bridge between the two countries”.

Veysel Tiryaki Mayor of Altındağ Municipality posited that, “There is a 1700 km distant between us but today I see that our hearts are in the same line with the Gagauz Turks. It was a touching feeling and very impressive to see Turkish children with Turkish flags in their hands and to observe that Turkish culture has been living in this land. We began to the construction of cultural center in this region after the request of our Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım. We had previously constructed a cultural center to Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina with the request of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Now we are making the ground breaking ceremony of the cultural center and I hope that we will be together again for the opening ceremony of the cultural center very soon. I wish it would be beneficial for Comrat people”.
