The “Initiation of Strategic and Urgent Projects in Gaza: Building the Future Program,” organized in collaboration between the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and the Deniz Feneri Association, aimed at accelerating social development and implementing strategic projects in Gaza. The program was held on May 7, 2026, at the Neslişah Sultan Cultural Center in Fatih, Istanbul.

The program, attended by TDBB Secretary General Taha Zahid Özder, as well as representatives from municipalities, universities, and hospitals, also included a live connection from Jerusalem University.

Speaking at the program, Deniz Feneri Association President, Lawyer Mehmet Cengiz, stated that the primary objective of the program was to counter Israeli propaganda claiming that life in Gaza had returned to normal following the ceasefire.

Mustafa Uzbaş, the First Deputy Chairman of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Council, who participated via live connection, stated that the program, encompassing numerous construction and reconstruction efforts, was extremely valuable and exemplary in terms of its vision and significance.

The program included: In Gaza, the project includes the construction of 15 schools in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, the establishment of a modern operating room at Dar Es-Salam Hospital, the renovation of the Gaza branch of Al-Quds University, the reconstruction of the northern wall of the Al-Azhar University Gaza campus, and the construction of a Central Camp Well in cooperation with the Khan Yunis Municipality.

Furthermore, the program includes the opening of the Lighthouse Vocational Training and Employment Center in cooperation with the Will Center and the Islamic University, the introduction of the Lighthouse Gaza Family application, the implementation of a temporary cleaning worker employment project in cooperation with the Gaza Municipality, the reconstruction of the Lighthouse Central Kitchen, the Lighthouse Market Chain project, and the renovation of the Al-Shafi’i Mosque.
