Bağcılar Municipality organized an iftar program on 13 March 2026 in its sister city, Jeti-Ögüz in Kyrgyzstan.
The iftar program was attended by Jeti-Ögüz Mayor Ermek Bahavadınov, Bağcılar Municipal Council Member Abdullah Köşgen, Bağcılar Municipality Director of Writing Affairs Mustafa Araç, officials from Jeti-Ögüz Municipality, and approximately 400 guests.
Continuing a long-standing tradition within the scope of “sister city” protocols, Bağcılar Municipality once again came together at the same table with its brothers and sisters in the ancestral homeland of Kyrgyzstan. It was emphasized that this bond established with the people of Jeti-Ögüz strengthens the spirit of solidarity across the Turkish world.
Speaking at the iftar program, Bağcılar Municipal Council Member Abdullah Köşgen greeted the participants and expressed his wishes for Ramadan to bring health, peace, and tranquility. He also conveyed the greetings and prayers of Bağcılar Mayor Yasin Yıldız and the people of Bağcılar.
Referring to the strong relations between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan, Köşgen stated that Türkiye is among the top five countries investing in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that Turkish construction companies have completed more than 90 projects in the country and recalled that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship State Hospital in Bishkek, which was built and equipped by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency two years ago.
Emphasizing that Bağcılar Municipality continues to contribute to strengthening ties between the two countries, Köşgen stated that the sister city relationship with Jeti-Ögüz Municipality is ongoing and that various events introducing Kyrgyz culture are organized in Bağcılar. In this context, he recalled the opening of the “Kyrgyz Yurt and Painting Exhibition” in the 15 July Neighborhood, attended by Kyrgyzstan Consul General Lira Sıdıkova.
Bağcılar Municipality and Jeti-Ögüz Municipality became sister cities through a protocol signed in Bağcılar on 13 February 2024 under the coordination of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities.
