Konya Metropolitan Municipality, a member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), is reaching thousands of people in need through the iftar tables it has set up throughout the month of Ramadan in the Syrian cities of Damascus, Homs and Hama.

Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they are pleased to share the mercy and blessings of Ramadan with their brothers and sisters in Syria, saying:
“We are honored to meet with our Syrian brothers and sisters, who are struggling to survive under difficult conditions, around the iftar table. Our aim is not only to provide a meal, but also to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, keep the spirit of solidarity alive, and share the blessings of Ramadan together.”

T he iftar organizations began in Hama and continued for ten days at different venues. The program then proceeded with additional ten-day schedules in Homs and Damascus. Throughout the month of Ramadan, hot iftar meals were regularly delivered to families in need in all three cities. Mayor Altay emphasized the importance of meeting with people in regions such as Syria that share deep historical ties with Türkiye, stating:
“We will continue to stand by our oppressed brothers and sisters across our heartland geography.”

Syrian citizens who had lived in Türkiye for many years and attended the iftar program also expressed their feelings. One participant said:
“We are proud to see our Turkish brothers here. Türkiye will always remain in our hearts; it is our second homeland. We have become two nations with one homeland. We thank Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay.”

This initiative by Konya Metropolitan Municipality aims both to support families in need and to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and Syria.
