The 47th Güzelyurt Orange Festival, organized by the Güzelyurt Municipality – a member of the Executive Board of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) – was held between June 16–22, 2025, in Güzelyurt, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The opening ceremony, held at the Amphitheater, was attended by TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the Assembly Ziya Öztürkler, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Minister of Agriculture Hüseyin Çavuş, Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, Güzelyurt District Governor Mehmet Kayan, İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Deputy Director General of Police Ali Adalıer, Deputy Mayor of Selçuklu Municipality Mehmet İnançlı, Rector of the University of Health and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. İbrahim Levent Taner, municipal council members, festival sponsors, guests, and citizens.
Before the official opening, dance and animation performances took place. The 47th Güzelyurt Orange Festival was officially inaugurated following speeches and the presentation of plaques, with the participation of the protocol. In the speeches, it was emphasized that investments in Güzelyurt would continue and that citrus fruit production contributes significantly to both the local Güzelyurt and national economy.
In his speech at the ceremony, Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar expressed his gratitude to municipal council members, sponsors, Final Organization, all institutions, organizations, NGOs, associations, schools, and his dedicated staff who contributed to the 47th Güzelyurt Orange Festival. Özçınar highlighted that with the support of the municipal council members, many cultural and artistic events and projects have been implemented, and he expressed his happiness in organizing yet another edition of this half-century-old festival.
Uzbek Artist Also Performed
Uzbek artist Alisher Nazirov performed on the opening night at the Amphitheater, offering the audience an enjoyable evening. In addition to songs from his own repertoire, he also performed Cypriot songs, bringing a unique flavor to the night.
