Başiskele Municipality organized an iftar program in the sister city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan on March 20, 2025.
Mayor of Cholpon-Ata Daniyar Satarov, Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak, Deputy Mayors of Başiskele Municipality Arif Başkan and Kadir Kandemir, Başiskele Municipality Council Members İhsan Sezgin, Hasan Mert Engi, Beşir Gür, Ercüment Yıldırım, İsmail Okcan, Hüseyin Duman, TDBB Foreign Relations Specialist Meryem Cankişi, Başiskele Municipality Officers Berat Göktaş and Onur Polat, officials from Cholpon-Ata Municipality and 400 guests attended the iftar program.
During the iftar dinner where the representatives of Cholpon-Ata and Basiskele Municipality came together, the future cooperation opportunities of the two sister cities were also discussed. Aiming to reinforce the solidarity of Kyrgyz-Turkish peoples and to build a bridge between the two cities, the representatives exchanged ideas.
Mayor of Cholpon-Ata Daniyar Satarov, in his speech at the iftar, emphasized that this cooperation is of great importance for the future of Cholpan-Ata. Satarov stated that Cholpon-Ata is a sister city with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Pendik Municipality as well as Başiskele in Turkey and that they are working to realize joint projects.
Deputy Mayor of Başiskele Municipality Arif Başkan, in his speech at the iftar, stated that they were pleased to be present at the Brotherhood iftar in Kyrgyzstan, our heart geography, and used the following expressions: “We attended the iftar program organized by our Basiskele Municipality in Cholpon Ata, the sister city of our municipality in Kyrgyzstan. We were very happy to come together in this beautiful organization that reinforces our brotherhood ties”.
In addition to the iftar program, the delegation of Başiskele Municipality also attended the Nevruz program held in Çolpan Ata on March 21.
Başiskele and Çolpon Ata Municipalities became sister cities with the protocol signed in Başiskele on December 6, 2023 under the coordination of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB).
