The General Assembly of the Union of Local Authorities of Kyrgyzstan, a member of the Executive Board of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), was held in Bishkek on February 10, 2025. Bekcan Usenaliev, Chairman of the Assembly of Bishkek Metropolitan Municipality was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union. In addition, the 9-member Board of Directors of the Union, consisting of representatives of 7 provinces and Bishkek and Osh Metropolitan Municipalities, was also elected.
Following the opening and protocol speeches at the General Assembly, the activity report of the Kyrgyz Local Government Union for 2024 was presented. Stating that 2024 was a productive year, General Director of the Union Bektur Orozbayev said, “We organized trainings for Kyrgyzstan Municipality employees. We have organized many training programs for village headmen and newly elected members of the Council. We have strengthened cooperation with state institutions by carrying out various activities to represent the demands of local government bodies at the national level”.
In addition, the Chairman of the Audit Committee Almazbek Dubanayev shared the results of the financial reports and audits with the delegation.
At the end of the meeting, the delegates approved the Annual and Audit reports and expressed their views on improving the work of the Association. It was stated that all suggestions will be taken into consideration and necessary steps will be taken for their implementation.
In addition, representatives of local government bodies from each province were awarded by the Union with badges of honor for their contributions to local governance. These awards are considered a high recognition of their significant contribution to the development of municipalities.
The General Assembly is considered the highest governing body of the Union and annually brings together delegates from 40 districts and 33 cities of Kyrgyzstan.
