There was a feast of Nowruz in Bursa Yıldırım. A member of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities, Yıldırım Municipality hosted in cooperation with the TURKSOY, the program was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The Yıldırım Municipality organized Nowruz in “Barış Manço” Cultural Center. A large number of residents of the district participated the Nowruz program. Vice-President of Union of Turkish World Municipalities and mayor of Yıldırım Özgen Keskin and his wife Melahat Keskin, Deputy Mayors, council members participated the program.
In his opening speech mayor Özgen Keskin “Dear friends, today we celebrate Nowruz as a symbol of brotherhood and peace in many parts of our world. Together with the Union of Turkish World Municipalities in Istanbul, together with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, organized a beautiful Nowruz ceremony in Bursa Yıldırım,t he Nevruz Feast which symbolizes goodness, beauty, virtue, correctness, happiness and peace is nowadays being celebrated in many countries. Its history is as old as humnaity itself. Today, it is being celebrated in similar ways under different names in many countries. We are honored to be with you on this beautiful day. Happy Nowruz Day with everyone once again, “he added.
The groups and soloists took the stage for the festivities after Keskins speech. The Nevruz celebrations were held in the Municipality of Yıldırım with the contribution of artists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Gagauzia (Moldova), Bosnia Herzegovina, Chuvash Republic (RF), Kirkuk Turkmens of Irak who performed colourful folk dances of their respective countries.
