Keçiören Municipality, Administrative Board Member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), organized 8th International Ramadan Events, which are made with the motto of “brotherhood crossing the limits” in Ramadan between 26 May and 18 June 2017 in Keçiören. The events, which took place with the concept of “Keçiören-House of the World”, were attended by 17 countries this year.

8th International Ramadan Events, where 17 brother countries of Turkey were hosted, were attended by delegations from TDBB Members who are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, TRNC, Iraq, Palestine, Ukraine, and also Afghanistan, Sudan, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Western Thrace, East Turkestan and Karapapaks.

Starting from the first day Ramadan Quran recitation was made at the event area set at Kalaba City Square, religious hymns were sang in chorus, prayers were made and concerts were performed with the works of Anatolia and Turkish World. Folk songs that belonged to Azerbaijan, Bashkortostan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kirkuk, Crimea, Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Rumelia were sung. Besides, folk dances groups coming from different countries performed shows at 8th International Ramadan Events. The events were attended by the ambassadors of the related countries, local government representatives, heads of NGOs, artists and local citizens.

Jambıl Jabayev Street was inaugurated in Keçiören

Within the framework of 8th International Ramadan Events, Keçiören Municipality took an important step to honor Jambıl Jabayev, one of the symbolic names of Kazakhstan. The name of Jambıl Jabayev, who is considered as “Homeros of 20th century” in Kazakhstan as an important person in Kazakh Folk Literature and also a Professional in battle of words, was given to a street in Keçiören. The opening of the street was made with a great ceremony upon the attendance of local authorities, academicians and artists coming from Kazakhstan.

Talking at the program which started with the show of artists and folk dances groups coming from Kazakhstan, Mustafa Ak reminded that two years ago the municipality opened two parks in Keçiören named after Suyinbay Aronulı and added, “Last year we opened Aronulı Monument in the park. This year we are opening the street named after Jambıl Jabayev. We named the street next to Suyinbay Aronulı Park as Jambıl Jabayev. Jambıl is a great bard for both Kazakhstan and Turkish World. We are happy to honor the name of the great bard, whose name is given to our sister municipality Jambıl, in Keçiören.”

On the other hand, Director of Muhtar Avezov Literature and Art Institute Ualihan Kalican mentioned that the elder of Turkish World Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are in close relationship and added, “Giving the name of Jambıl Jabayev as the one of the important representatives of Kazakh Folk Literature to a street in Keçiören of Ankara, the center of Turkey, is a sign of sentimental closeness and brotherhood.” After the speeches Mayor Ak was presented Kazakhstan Jambıl Medal.
