Mersin Metropolitan Municipality signed ‘Sister City Protocol’ with Bayan Ulgii from Mongolia and Famagusta Municipalities from TRNC.
Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz, Bayan Ulgii (Mongolia) Mayor Bakhitkhumar Khakhan and Mayor of Famagusta (TRNC) İsmail Arter attended the signing ceremony held on 31 March 2017 in Mersin.
Bayan Ulgii and Mersin Fellowship
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz and Bayan Ulgii Mayor Bakhitkhumar Khakhan, who came together in Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, signed the Sister City Protocol.
Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz said in his speech that the brotherhood between the cities was recorded with the signing of the sister city protocols. President Kocamaz said, “It is important that this brotherhood would be fruitfull and would pass to the next generations. That is why the mutual students, businessmen, members of parliament and mayors can come and go to improve this business. We want to crown this business by launching commercial associations.”
Bayan Ulgii Mayor Bakhitkhumar Khakhan stated that he is happy to be in Mersin and said, “I am happy to be sister city of Mersin. I hope that this protocol will increase the activities between the two countries in social commercial and other fields.”
Famagusta Became Sister City with Mersin
After the sister city protocol which was made between Bayan Ulgii and Mersin, Sister City Protocol was signed between Famagusta Municipality and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.
The protocol was signed by Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz and Famagusta Mayor Ismail Arter.
Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz said, “Republic of Turkey has never left the Cyprus Turks alone. As Mersin we are always with Cyprus, and I wish that the brotherhood of our people will be the perpetual. I would also like to thank you for honoring our city once again on behalf of the people of Mersin.”
Mayor of Famagusta Mayor Ismail Arter expressed that they followed Works of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality closely and said “I congratulate you and wish you continued success. Thank you very much for the proximity you have shown with this protocol signed between the two cities. We are delighted that we will benefit from your experiences and that this protocol signed will be beneficial to both cities.”
Following the protocol ceremonies, Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Burhanettin Kocamaz met with Mersin’s sister cities Bayan Ulgii and Famagusta delegations for lunch.
