Members of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), Goynuk (Bolu) and Sheki (Azerbaijan) Municipalities signed sister city protocol in Goynuk on 17 January 2017.
Sister City Signature Ceremony participated by Mayor Sheki Elshad Ibadov, Mayor of Goynuk and Union of Silk Road Municipalities Kemal Kazan, Secretary General of TDBB Dr. Fahri Solak, District Governor of Goynuk Ahmet Oğuz Aslan, Mayor of Taraklı Tacettin Özkaraman, Deputy Mayor of Sheki Sahib Dashdemirov, members of city parliament and municipal parliament of Goynuk.
Kemal Kazan made a speech in the ceremony and said that after this protocol signed between two municipalities there will be information and experience sharing in the field of local governance, cooperation in the field of tourism and a strong connection between two brother countries. He underlined that the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan got strong after 15 of July traitor coup attempt and said “Turkey and Azerbaijan are one nation. People of Azerbaijan and Turkey stood always by and support each other.” Mayor of Sheki Elshad Ibadov mentioned that after those signatures the friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan would improve and said “After this signature of brotherhood, bond of communion between our countries and municipalities will get stronger. Cooperation in the field of friendship, brotherhood, solidarity, economy, cultur will be consolidated after this protocol”.
Afterwards, Mayor of Goynuk Kemal Kazan and Mayor of Sheki Elshad Ibadov presented gifts from their cultures to each other. Mayor Kazan informed the delegation about history, culture, natural beauties and municipal works of Goynuk.
