II. World Nomad Games were organized in Kyrgyzstan between 3 and 8 September 2016, with the slogan “Power Together, Power in Soul”.

The official opening of the games that took place in the 10 thousand-person hippodrome built in Çolpon-Ata city along with Issık-Göl, vacation center of the country, was made by the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.

II. World Nomad Games were attended by sportsmen from 40 countries including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, China, Bashkirs, Karachays, Çelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk Regions under Russia Federation, Argentina, Armenia, Brazil, Israel, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Guatemala, Italy, Latonia, Lithuania, Holland, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Estonia, Slovakia, Equator and USA, in addition to hosting country Kyrgyzstan.

The traditional games were played by approximately 2.500 players in 23 sections and Turkey attended the games with 70 sportsmen and referees.

In 2nd World Nomad Games, competitions on ordo (call-and response game), kökbörü (goat chasing), Kyrgyz national wrestling, Kazakh national wrestling, Turkey national wrestling, Turkmenistan national wrestling, Azerbaijan national wrestling, Kyrgyz alış wrestling, javelin and knife game, kunan cabış (horse race in long distance), salburun (hunting), archery, bar drawing, er-eniş (wrestling on horse), mangala, and dokuz korgol (nine stone kumalak game) were organized.

During the traditional games, Turkey won one gold medal in javelin throwing on horse and was placed in 16.line. In the games Kyrgyzstan became the first with totally 79 medals including 25 gold, 25 silver and 29 bronze. After Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan became the second with 24 medals including 15 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze, and Kazakhstan finished the games becoming the third with 38 medals including 12 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze. The countries that finished 2nd World Nomad Games in Issık Göl region in top 10 list follow as:

  1. Kyrgyzstan, 2. Turkmenistan, 3. Kazakhstan, 4. Russia, 5. Azerbaijan, 6. Iran, 7. Georgia, 8. Uzbekistan, 9. Bashkirs, 10. Tatarstan.

Talking in the closing ceremony of the games, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ceenbekov said that World Nomad Games strengthened the solidarity among the communities and contributed to the international cooperation’s development. He also mentioned that the organization was recorded by approximately 500 national and international press members.

In the games, which aimed to introduce original and rich cultures, traditions and skills with different games and which took the interest of local and international tourists, the sportsmen were given approximately 415.000 dollars material award.

The opening ceremony of 2nd World Nomad Games was attended by Secretary General Fahri Solak on behalf of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB). On the occasion of the visit, Solak met with TDBB Kyrgyzstan members and discussed the on-going projects with the related officials.
