The failed coup attempt of Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) that took place in Turkey on July 15 has sparked off great reaction in Turkic and Islamic world. With the declarations they have made, the political leaders stated their support to the elected government in Turkey. While the political leaders have made supporting speeches on behalf of Turkey one after another, Turkish and Muslim people living all around the world have flocked into squares to protest the coup attempt.
Brother countries condemned the coup attempt in Turkey in a serious way and supported the elected government. The first countries who reacted to the coup attempt were Azerbaijan and Russia. While condemning the armed coup attempt in a serious way, President of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev stated that this event has been an attempt to the national interests of Turkish nation, democratic structure of the aforesaid country and the rule of law. Repeating that Azerbaijan is always with Turkish Government and Nation, President Aliyev expressed his support to the government which was elected by Turkish citizens in a democratic way.
After the coup attempt, President of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev was the first to visit Turkey on August 5 on the level of Presidency. Nazarbayev said, “The amity of our brother country is very important for us. I offer my condolences and best wishes for the martyrs, wounded and their relatives on behalf of Kazakh Nation. I came here to declare that we are supporting his honor Erdoğan. The enemy of Turkey is also our enemy. We will respond to the demands of Turkey.”
In his speech for supporting Turkish Nation and Turkey, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhammedov said that Turkey and Turkmenistan have historical and amity bonds between them.
On the other hand, Kyrgyzstan also reacted to the coup attempt of FETO. President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev affirmed that it is unacceptable to accept the coup attempt against the government which was elected democratically by Turkish nation.
President of Tatarstan Rüstem Minnihanov sent a support and solidarity message to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the failed coup attempt.
Balkan countries also sent supporting messages to Turkey. Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic addressed the coup attempt as “a traitor plan”. On the other hand Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama said, “I am very happy to see that Turkey has overcome such a hard night”. President of Kosovo Haşim Thaçi declared on his social media account that “The stability of Turkey is the key of the stability of the region. We support the elected government, rule of law and order of Turkey.” President of Macedonia Gyorge Ivanov stated his happiness for the stability of the situation. While on his declaration on Facebook Prime Minister of Dacian Cioloş wrote as “The only alternative for Turkey is constitutional order and state of law”, President of Bulgaria Plevneliev too made a statement as “The peace and stability in Turkey come first for us.” In his declaration Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said, “I believe that Turkey as a great and powerful country will overcome all the problems she has faced.” Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Palestine also made statements condemning the coup attempt.
Turkish people and Muslims living all around the world also showed their reactions about the failed coup attempt on July 15. Azeri and Turkish people gathered in capital city Baku of Azerbaijan reacted to the coup attempt. Bosnian and Turkish people living in the capital city Sarajevo of Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered in front of the historical Bascarsija and chanted against the coup attempt in Turkey. The groups carrying Palestine and Turkey flags going down the streets of Palestine gathered in mosques. They chanted and shouted slogans supporting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkish government. In Macedonia thousands of people gathered in front of Turkish Embassy in Skopje to protest the coup attempt. Besides, almost 5 thousand people gathered in front of Turkish Embassy in Vienna city of Austria shouted the slogan “Vienna is with you”. In Albania hundreds of Albanian and Turkish people gathered in Martyrs Boulevard in Tirana holding Turkey and Albania flags while shouting slogans against the coup attempt in Turkey. In Hungary people gathered at the main squares. Hundreds of people gathering in front of Turkish Embassy in Budapest sang Turkish National Anthem holding Turkish flags on their hands and then shouted slogans. Besides Pakistanis in front of the press club in Islamabad, Somalians in Mogadishu and Lebanese in Beirut said no to the coup attempt. Furthermore Western Thrace Turks gathered in Alexandroupoli. Western Thrace Turks made a demonstration in Alexandroupoli Airport where 8 soldiers related with the coup attempt landed in. People in Bulgaria, Lebanon, Hungary, Albania and Somali went to main squares and marched against the traitor coup attempt in Turkey. Besides in the countries like Switzerland, France, Germany, Canada, United States of America and Qatar, people went to the squares to support Turkey.
On the other hand at the democracy watch demonstrations made in all the cities of Turkey after July 15 failed coup attempt, representatives of Turkish world participated with their flags and pennants. Especially “Democracy and Martyrs Meeting” organized in Istanbul Yenikapi on August 7 was attended by many representatives of Turkish World and relative communities.
