“Eurasia Local Authorities Summit” will be held in Sarajevo on 30 May 2016, with the participation of Mayors from Turkic Republics and Related Communities. The Summit will be attended by almost 200 Mayors from 10 different member countries of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and also top government officials, including Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Within the framework of TDBB Bosnia and Herzegovina Program between 27 and 30 May 2016 “508th Ajvatovica Festival” will be participated, historical and touristic cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be seen, the member municipalities will be visited and also TDBB Administrative Board Meeting will be held in Sarajevo.
With Bosnia and Herzegovina program, it is aimed to bring Mayors from different regions and countries together for sharing information and experience and also to remember the common historical and cultural heritage by visiting different cultures on site. For this purpose, Union of Turkish World Municipalities organizes Administrative Board Meetings once every three months in a different country or city.
Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) is an international institution established with the decree of the Council of Ministers of Republic of Turkey in 2003. Union of Turkish World Municipality has currently 1.120 members from municipalities and local government institutions of 28 different countries of a wide geographic zone from Mongolia to Montenegro. Balkan geography is one of the regions that TDBB mostly works. TDBB has 70 Municipal members from 8 Balkan countries.
With the decision taken in 4th Ordinary General Meeting on 9 September 2015, TDBB Administrative Board includes members from 11 different countries (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Macedonia, Mongolia, Moldova and Tatarstan). The presidency of Union is presently held by İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu (Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality). The headquarters of Union is in Istanbul.
