The Information and Experience Sharing Program themed as “Municipal Activities and Mining Services”, organized cooperatively by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Tunçbilek (Kütahya) Municipality for the officials of TDBB Member Shariin-Gol Municipality of Mongolia between 12 and 20 April 2016 in Tunçbilek and Istanbul, was completed.
Mine Sites were Examined
The program between 12 and 16 April, in which Tunçbilek Municipality made visits to open and closed mine sites and presentations on urban planning, mining, culture and social affairs and health services, was participated by a group of 7 people who were Mayor of Shariin-Gol Dovdon Amarsanaa, council members of municipality and other officials.
Sister City Protocol with Tunçbilek Municipality
On the night of 14 April, Sister City Protocol was signed between Tunçbilek and Shariin-Gol Municipalities for the development of the relations between two cities. The signing ceremony in Directorate of Garp Lignite Pits Social Facilities was attended by the Mayors of two cities and also Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak, Director of Garp Lignite Pits Mustafa Çokuslu, Council members of Tunçbilek Municipality, mayors of close districts, heads of departments, representatives of Mine-Work Union and NGOs. Mayor of Tunçbilek Agah Aşkın spoke in the signing ceremony and stated that with the signed protocol, the cooperation between the municipalities would develop. In his speech Aşkın said, “In the consequences of contacts and examinations we made, we signed a sister city protocol with Mongolia’s Shariin-Gol Municipality whose background is congenial with Turkish culture and Tunçbilek culture. We are honored to host our honorable guests in our district, for the aim of developing the dual relations further through the friendship bridge that was built with the efforts of Union of Turkish World Municipalities. I believe that from now on, we will develop our sister city relations in economic, cultural and social areas. Within this context, I thank to Mayor of Shariin-Gol and council members for their visits and wish this protocol be beneficial to our sister city and our city.” Mayor of Shariin-Gol Amarsaana underlined the common points of both municipalities, wished the cooperation develop deeper and thanked to hosting Tunçbilek Municipality. On the other hand, Secretary General of TDBB Solak said that it is TDBB’s one of the important activities to coordinate these kinds of relations as the coordinator institution and added, “It is very important for us, as TDBB, for organizing sister city relations; but the most important thing is to provide these relations sustainable with concrete projects. I hope the two mining towns, Tunçbilek and Shariin-Gol Municipalities, which have common points, will carry on projects that will deepen their sisterhood.” After signing the protocol, the ceremony ended with gift-presenting and dinner.
TDBB Visit and New Projects
After the program in Tunçbilek, Shariin-Gol delegation came to Istanbul on April 19, Tuesday and visited TDBB Headquarters. The delegations exchanged opinion on new cooperation areas during the meeting they made with Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak. The main agenda of the meeting was about subjects like practical training programs with sister city Tunçbilek, naming the streets of both cities with the names of the cities, and the possible visit to Mongolia in August. Besides in the meeting, Mayor of Shariin-Gol Amarsaana stated that % 2 of the population in Shariin-Gol consists of Muslim Kazakhs and that they wanted to build a mosque for the Muslims in the region with a joint project. The meeting continued with dual opinion exchange.
Shariin-Gol Municipality’s busy and fruitful Turkey program ended with the return of the delegation on April 20, 2016.
