The mosque, which was built in Gorna Oryahovitsa city of Bulgaria by Büyükçekmece Municipality, inaugurated for worship.
Mayor of Büyükçekmece Dr. Hasan Akgün, speaking at the opening ceremony of “Gorna Oryahovitsa- Sister City Büyükçekmece Mosque”, built at the request of Muslim citizens living in Gorna Oryahovitsa, the sister city of Büyükçekmece Municipality in Bulgaria, said that Büyükçekmece Municipality had 17 sister cities but Gorna Oryahovitsa was the city which had the most developed and warm relations with the municipality. Besides, he thanked to Mayor of Gorna Oryahovitsa Dobromir Dobrev and Municipal Council for their support during the construction and he added:
“Before, we were requested help for the church here. We immediately replied this request and made up all the deficiencies and maintenance and repair needs of the church. Later on Muslim population living here requested a mosque from us. We see all the worship places as the houses of God so we respect them all. In this context, we also satisfied this demand and built Büyükçekmece Sister City Mosque, which we open right now for worship. I thank to those who contributed.”
The opening ceremony of Gorna Oryahovitsa- Büyükçekmece Sister City Mosque was attended by Mayor Hasan Akgün, District Governor of Büyükçekmece Mustafa Hulusi Arat, members of municipal council, representatives of NGOs, headmen, PMs of Bulgaria Rights and Freedom Party Çetin Kazak, Kamen Kostadinov, Ceyhan Ibrahimov, Ayhan Etem, Consulate General of Plovdiv Attache of Socail Affairs Metin Aktaş, Head of Gorna Oryahovitsa Municipal Council Daniel Kostadinov, District Mufti Süleyman Mehmetov and Muslims living in Gorna Oryahovitsa.
