Macedonia Kalkan Scouting Club’s Scouts attended the Winter Camp of ‘Scouting and Guiding Federation of Turkey’ between 03 and 10 January 2016 in Bolu.
In the activity supported by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Bolu Municipality, Kalkan Scouting Club’s Scouts-coming from different Municipalities like Tetovo, Skopje, Gostivar, Struga, Ohrid and Kicevo-were involved in various scouting activities and training.
In the ‘Bolu Winter Camp’, attended by 40 teenagers coming from Macedonia by bus, Muslim scouts from Tetovo, Skopje, Vrapciste, Ohrid, Struga and Kicevo participated in activities. The scouts who were trained theoretically and practically for surviving in cold and mountainside, preparing one’s own sleeping place and food on the snow by his own, saving friends in trouble and jogging and exploring, returned to Macedonia more improved and happy, after the one-week camp.
During the camp, Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz visited Kalkan Scouts and stated that he would continue to support similar activities.
Kalkan Education, Culture and Art Association was established formally in 2007 in Tetovo of Macedonia and aims to protect Ottoman Turkish traditions, to introduce students with Turkish and Turkey, and to prepare different projects on education, culture and art. Within this framework, last year in April with the support of Union of Turkish World Municipalities, Çanakkale (Gallipoli) 100th National Awareness Camp was attended by teenagers.
