In cooperation with Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), T. R. Hyderabad Consulate General and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, famous Indian art group Qadir Ali Baig Theatre met with the art-lovers in Istanbul Kağıthane Sadabad Stage with three unique plays.

Established in Hyderabad, a city which serves a source for the historical relationship between Turkey and Istanbul, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre met its audience with its plays “Quli: Prince of Hearts”, “Story of Queen Hayat” and “Spaces” on May 20, 21 and 23, 2015 in IBB Kağıthane Sadabad Stage.

Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Organization, held within the international cultural activities of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), got credit from the art-lovers in Istanbul.

Starting May 20, 2015, the opening play of the program was ‘Quli: Dilon ka Shahzaada’ (Quli: Prince of Hearts), hailed as an ‘Indian Masterpiece’ by the European media and  based on the historic love-legend of the Turkish-Persian founder of the city of Hyderabad, Poet-Prince Quli Qutub Shah and his dancer-singer beloved Bhagmati. Watched with enthusiasm and interest, the play was remarkable with its elements reflecting Indian culture and art perspective.

The cocktail organized before the play was attended by Vice-President of TDBB and also Mayor of Zeytinburnu Murat Aydın, Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak in addition to T. R. Hyderabad Consul General Murat Ömeroğlu, Istanbul Consul General of India Manish Gupta and crowd audience.

Speaking at the cocktail, Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak thanked T. R. Hyderabad Consulate General and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for their contributions and cooperation, and wished the cultural relations with India increased with the occasion of this organization. Then, Vice-President of TDBB Murat Aydın stated the pleasure for hosting an important theatre group from Hyderabad and thanked everyone who contributed to the organization. Afterwards, Istanbul Consul General of India Manish Gupta took the floor and said, “Thank you everybody who contributed to the organization of the program. It is an honor for us to have this program in Turkey. Qadir Ali Baig Theatre is among the most famous and important art groups of India. On the occasion of this organization, the relationship between Turkey and India will develop more.” Besides, the congratulatory telegrams of Mayors and Protocol guests, who couldn’t attend to the program, were shared with the audience.

The program continued with the staging of ‘Savaan-e-Hayat’ (Story of Queen Hayat) based on the true life story of Queen Hayat Bakshi Begum of the Qutub Shahi dynasty, the founders of Hyderabad on May 21 and ended with the play ‘Spaces’ on May 23 portraying a young artist struggles to preserve her identity and cherished heritage.

While Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak expressed his feelings as “On behalf of Union of Turkish World Municipalities, we are happy for contributing for the cultural relations of Hyderabad and Turkey”, Muhammed Ali Baig underlined the importance of the program and said, “ We were hosted very well by TDBB and other partner institutions. We thank all the people who helped us here. Here the actors you see on stage are with us since my father Qadir Ali Baig. We also had the opportunity to meet with actors here. Thank you for this opportunity. The artists are the real ambassadors. Here we visited Istanbul and witnessed the common values of two cities. I wish the relations between Hyderabad and Turkey will develop with this occasion.” The program ended with photo taking of the audience with the actors.
