Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Expert Training Program themed as “Solid Waste Management and Recycling Applications in Local Governments” organized in cooperation with TIKA with the participation of 16 local government officials from 7 different countries ended.

During the one-week program held in Istanbul and Kocaeli, in addition to Mayor of Valu Lui Traian Florin Mitroi from Romania, 15 experts from the related departments of the member municipalities of TDBB which are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, TRNC, Mongolia, Moldova and Romania. In the opening session of the program held in Union’s Headquarters, the new member Mayor of Valu Lui Traian Florin Mitroi was presented TDBB Membership Certificate.
İSTAÇ, İZAYDAŞ and Beyoğlu Municipality shared their Experiences
After the opening session the participants made a cultural tour in Istanbul, visited Topkapı Cultural Park and Panorama Museum, and then went to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Project Tent to examine the activities and the future projects of the municipality. Within the concept of the program, the participants visited Kemerburgaz Işıklı Composting and Recycling Area of ISTAC inc.-Municipal Corporation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Odayeri Trash Water Leakage Refining Facility, Göktürk Village Medical Waste Incineration Station and Hasdal Old Random Depositing Site and Gas Production Station; in Kocaeli they had the opportunity to visit to Solid Waste and Parsing Facility of İZAYDAŞ-Municipal Corporation of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and examine the activities and projects on Waste Management on site. Besides, they were briefed about “We think of the Future So We Recycle” Project of Beyoğlu Municipality.

The one-week Expert Training Program themed as “Solid Waste Management and Recycling Applications in Local Governments”, with the participation of 16 local government officials from 7 different countries ended on 13 March 2015 with Certificate Ceremony. The participants were presented their Participation Certificates by TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak.
