Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Expert Training Program themed as “Solid Waste Management and Recycling Applications in Local Governments” organized in cooperation with TIKA with the participation of 16 local government officials from 7 different countries started with the opening session that took place in TDBB Headquarters.
The opening session of the program, which will continue for one week in Istanbul and Kocaeli, was attended by 15 experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, TRNC, Mongolia, Moldova and Romania in addition to Mayor of Valu Lui Traian of Romania.
In the opening session starting with the detailed briefing of Secretary General Fahri Solak on the activities of the Union and information about the program, greeting and appreciation speeches were made by Deputy Mayor of Sumgait Sultan Asadov on behalf of Azerbaijan Delegation; by Governorate of Kızılorda Manager of Public Services Marsbek Moldabayev on behalf of Kazakhstan Delegation; by Bishkek Municipality Environmental Protection Director Alybek Apazov on behalf of Kyrgyzstan Delegation; by Gazimagusa Municipality Technical Works Director Doğuş Veysioğlu on behalf of TRNC Delegation; by Deputy Governor of Gobi-Sumber Surenjav Dangaasuren on behalf of Mongolia; by Traclia Municipality Energy Efficiency Manager Evgheni Camenscic on behalf of Moldova and Mayor of Valu Lui Traian Municipality Florin Mitroli on behalf of Romania. After the opening speeches, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak presented TDBB Membership Certificate to Florin Mitroli, Mayor of our new member Valu Lui Traian Municipality from Romania.
Program will continue for one week in Istanbul and Kocaeli.
After the opening ceremony that took place in Headquarters of the Union, the participants made a cultural tour in Istanbul; they visited Topkapı Cultural Park and Panorama 1453 Museum and went to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Project Tent to be informed about the ongoing and future projects of the Municipality.
On the following days of the program; the participants will visit Kemerburgaz Işıklı Composting and Recycling Area of ISTAC inc.-Municipal Corporation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Odayeri Trash Water Leakage Refining Facility, Göktürk Village Medical Waste Incineration Station and Hasdal Old Random Depositing Site and Gas Production Station; in Kocaeli they will have the opportunity to visit to Solid Waste and Parsing Facility of İZAYDAŞ-Municipal Corporation of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and examine the activities and projects on Waste Management on site.
The program will end on 13 March 2015 with the closing ceremony and the presentation of participation certificates.
