The meeting of TDBB Administrative Board was held on 28 January 2015, hosted by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.
In the meeting besides the evaluation of 2014 activities, issues of 2015 annual planning and new membership applications were discussed.
The meeting started with the presentation of Union’s 2014 activities. In 2014, TDBB organized Expert Training Programs which were attended by 49 experts from 9 different member countries on “Information Technologies and E-Municipality”, “Disaster Management and Risk Planning”, “Recycling Applications and Green Field Management”; Information and Experience Sharing Programs on “Municipal Cooperation and Urban Transformation”, and “Water Management” with the participation of 30 mayors; and In-service training programs on topics such as “Project Cycle Management”, “First Aid Training” and “Fire Security”, and imparted its knowledge of Turkey on local governments.
Besides training programs, TDBB also organized cultural activity programs like “Commemoration of Rahman Kul Khan on his 100th Birthday” with the active participation in Istanbul, friendship iftar organizations in nearby geography and Soccer Tournament between Consulates, and contributed to the strengthening of the bonds between countries by supporting a great number of major organizations like TRNC Hala Sultan Training Complex, Bishkek Architecture and Urbanism Congress, International Balkan Conference, World Intelligent Cities Summit, Bolu Köroğlu Festival, Newruz Activities, Workshop of Harmonization of International Laws and Turkish World Concerts.
The Union, which was visited officially almost 20 times by many Consulates General and local governments’ authorities from many countries like Romania, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tatarstan, Tajikistan and Moldova, represented the member municipalities in Turkish World in 13 international activities like Capital of Culture Handover Ceremony, Conference of Eurasia World Heritage Cities and Turkish World Journalists’ Meeting.
Trying to be useful for Turkish World in its every activity, the Union brought in important publications prepared in this direction like “The Modernization of Local Governments in Changing World Symposium Presentations Book”, “The way through Migration: Pamir Kyrgyzs”, “Rahman Kul Khan and His Period”, and “Turkish World”.
In 2014, which passed with the activities organized for Turkish World, the Executive Board, the Administrative Board and High Advisory Board were enriched with new members chosen in Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting and also the new Charter of the Union was accepted.
TDBB’s 2015 Agenda is Busy
In the first Administrative Board Meeting of 2015 in Mersin, the activities that were planned to be done in this year were discussed. In this framework, many issues like Turkey Programs of Balkan Mayors in February and Tatarstan Mayors in March, the future activities that the Union planned to be carried out for the 100th anniversary of Çanakkale War, Summer Youth Camp for Turkish World, “Summit of Female Mayors” planned to be carried out with the cooperation of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, “Turkish World Lullaby Festival” planned to be carried out with the cooperation of Esenler Municipality, Cultural Center Project planned to be made in Kazakhstan with the cooperation of Kul Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Association, cooperations with the related institutions for the operation of “TDBB Sister City Practice Principals” Project, replying the new sister city applications, evaluating the international invitations, Union’s new publications that will be published within the year, local and international forums, symposiums and conferences were discussed.
Two new Co-Presidents to the Union Administration from Turkish World
In the meeting, Mayor of Nijnekamsk (Tatarstan) Aydar Metşin and Governor of Kızılorda (Kazakhstan) Kırımbek Köşerbaev were elected for TDBB Co-Presidency to develop the cooperation between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan and strengthen the bonds in local governments.
13 New Membership Applications from Local and International Regions were accepted
Besides the membership applications of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Hacılar (Kayseri) Municipality, Union of Mediterranean Municipalities, Aral (Kazakhstan) Municipality, Romania Medgidia and Valu Lui Traian Municipalities and Travnik, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Boboj, Stari Grad Sarajevo, Vukosavlje, Fojnica and Visoko Municipalities from Bosnia and Herzegovina were accepted.
TDBB finalized its 2015 Activity Plan and started its activities with the mission of “building the prosperous cities of the future in our culture and civilization geography, and serve the values of member cities to the humankind with the power of solidarity”.
The meeting, under the leadership of President of Union and also the Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, was attended by Vice-President of TDBB and also Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Burhanettin Kocamaz, TDBB Co-Presidents Kyrgyzstan President of Local Governments State Agency Naken Kasiev, Azerbaijan Ministry of Justice, President of Trade Center with Municipalities Mehdi Selimzade and TRNC Mayor of Güzelyurt Mahmut Özçınar; and also members of Union’s Administrative Board who are Mayor of Beykoz Yücel Çelikbilek, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Murat Aydın, Mayor of Bağcılar Lokman Çağırıcı, Mayor of Keçiören Mustafa Ak, Mayor of Bolu Alaaddin Yılmaz, Mayor of Kartepe Hüseyin Üzülmez, Mayor of Gebze Adnan Köşker, Mayor of Sancaktepe İsmail Erdem, Mayor of Bayrampaşa Atila Aydıner, Mayor of Hendek Ali İnci, Mayor of Pendik Salih Kenan Şahin,Mayor of Selçuklu Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of Düzce Mehmet Keleş, Mayor of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Çakır and Mayor of Şahinbey Mehmet Tahmazoğlu.
