The first 2014 Fall period Training Program of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), which took place in Istanbul between September 21 and 27, with the title of “Disaster Management and Risk Planning in Local Governments”, was accomplished.

The opening ceremony of the training program, which was held in the headquarters of the Union in September 22, was attended by participators from Technical Works, Environmental Protection and Control, Fire Brigade and Disaster, and Emergency Rescue Departments of capital city and metropolitan municipalities of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo and Tataristan, and also by Vice President and Mayor of Zeytinburnu Municipality Murat Aydın.

Conscious Intervention in Natural Disasters and Fire is very important

On the first day of the program in Istanbul, which covered Disaster Management and Risk Planning in Local Governments, the participators were informed about the activities of Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) Istanbul District Office and trained on “First 72 Hours in Natural Disasters”, “Survival in Extraordinary Conditions”, “Psychological First Aid in Disasters”, “Minimizing Structural Risks against Earthquake and Structural Strengthening” and “Minimizing Non-structural Risks Against Earthquake”.

The second day of the training started in Fire Department Training Center of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Bahçelievler. The delegation was informed about the Structure and Activities of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Fire Department and the Role of Fire Department in Disaster and Emergency Conditions. Later on, participators were introduced to the mobile simulation truck designed by Fire Department, and informed about the intervention way of the vehicle.

On the third day of the training which started in Disaster Coordination Center, the delegation was informed about the structure and functioning of AKOM, and Web based Disaster Coordination System working via Screening System (ELER). On the last day of the training, participators attended to the presentation on “Health Services after Disasters”, organized by Bezmialem Foundation University and Doctors Worldwide.

The participators were awarded with Certificate

After the Bosporus Tour made with the completion of one-week long intensive training, the program ended with the awarding of certificates to the participators in the closure program that took place on September 26, 2014.
