Annual “7th International Conference of Eurasia World Heritage Cities” was held on 24-27 August 2014 in Aktau, the only port city of Kazakhstan by the Caspian Sea.
The opening of 7th International Conference of Eurasia World Heritage Cities was made by Governor Edil Janbırşin, and many important subjects were discussed in the program like the problems and expectations of Eurasia World Heritage Cities, protection of historical and cultural heritage in Eurasia, advancement of cultural tourism by reviving the cultural heritage in global world and raising awareness about the recognition of cultural heritage in Eurasia region.
The organization was attended by General Secretary of Union of Turkish World Municipalities Fahri Solak PhD., and there were other guests from Turkey like Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz, Mayor of Safranbolu Municipality and also Vice President of Union of World Heritage Cities Necdet Aksoy, General Secretary of United Cities and Local Governments, Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) Mehmet Duman, Vice President of General Secretary of TURKSOY Fırat Purtaş PhD., and Deputy Mayors of Selçuklu Municipality A.Ziya Yalçınkaya and Ayhan Gürbüzer.
Exhibition on Kazakhstan and Eurasia Cities’ Cultural Heritage
The conference was attended by nearly 300 representatives from 10 countries and 41 different cities, and within the framework of the program the exhibition on “Kazakhstan and Eurasia Cities’ Cultural Heritage” was held, also with the representation of Safranbolu.
Kazakh Sister City to Safranbolu
Within the scope of the program Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, the member of TDBB, and the Governorate of Aktau signed Sister City Protocol. The parties of the protocol, Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz and Governor of Aktau Edil Janbırşin, stated that with this protocol their relationship will strengthen further.
Aktau Province is becoming the member of TDBB
During the visit General Secretary of TDBB Fahri Solak PhD. met with Governor of Mangıstau Region Alik Aydarbek and Governor of Aktau Edil Janbırşin. During the meeting the governors were informed about TDBB and its activities, and the membership proposal of Aktau to TDBB was discussed positively; the decision about the preparation of necessary membership documents was given.
