“Uzbekistan Local Governments Information and Experience Sharing Programme”, organized by the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) in cooperation with Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and Şahinbey Municipality, was held between 3rd and 9th September 2023 in Balıkesir, Şahinbey (Gaziantep) and Istanbul.
The program was attended by the President of the Yükseliş National Movement Bobur Bekmurodov, Mayor of Kokand Maruf Usmanov, Mayor of Termez Uktam Turaev, Mayor of Navai Dilmurod Ergashev, Mayor of Kattakurgan Gavhar Alimova, Mayor of Davlatabad Anvar Tajimirzaev, Advisor to the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Shahuz Hakimov, Head of Department of the Court of Accounts of Uzbekistan Anvarjon Soliev, Vice President of the Yükseliş National Movement Askar Mamathanov and Coordinator Barnohon Niyazımbetova.
On the first day of the program, on September 4, 2023, the delegation visited Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality (BBB) and met with Mayor Yücel Yılmaz. During the visit, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and Kokand Municipality signed the Sister City Protocol. Then, a presentation on “Participatory Municipality and E-Municipality Services” of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality was made and a field trip was held.
On the second day of the program, on September 5, 2023, the delegation listened to the presentation on “City and Regional Planning” made by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and a field trip was made. The delegation also visited the touristic and cultural venues of Balıkesir.
In Gaziantep, the delegation visited Şahinbey Municipality on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, and a sister city protocol was signed between Termez Municipality and Şahinbey Municipality.
In the program that continued in Gaziantep on Thursday, September 7, 2023, participants listened to Şahinbey Municipality’s presentations on “Social Aid Studies” and “Housing Production and Urban Transformation Projects” and made a field trip. The delegation also visited the historical and cultural sites of Gaziantep.
On Friday, September 8, 2023, the delegation visited the historical peninsula and cultural places in Istanbul. The program was completed with the delegation returning to their countries on September 9.
