TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, who was in Kazakhstan for the ‘International Altai Communities Symposium’, which was held for the 11th time this year in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) was among the supporters, met with the executives of the Kazakhstan Association of Local Authorities on 5 July 2023.
Jalairi Ömirali Şakarapuli, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Local Authorities, and Erkinbek Rakimbaev, General Manager of the Association of Local Authorities, attended the meeting.
TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak gave information about TDBB and its activities and stated that Kazakhstan is one of the member countries with which TDBB actively cooperates, and Turkistan Municipality is also represented in the Board of Directors of TDBB. Solak stated that cooperation between the local governments of Kazakhstan and the municipalities of Turkey could be further developed in the context of sister city experience sharing programs.
During the meeting, President of Kazakhstan Association of Local Authorities Şakarapuli expressed his satisfaction for the visit and emphasized that the Association of Local Authorities is a newer institution, and in this context, the municipalities of Turkey, an experienced and friendly country in the field of municipality, and he expressed the importance of the experience of Municipal Unions such as TDBB. Expressing that they are ready for the establishment and strengthening of sister city relations between the cities of the two countries in the next period, he asserted that they are always ready for joint projects.
The meeting ended with taking a photo and gift exchange to commemorate the day.
