Sabantuy Festival, traditionally celebrated by Tatars, to which the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) was invited and participated, was enthusiastically celebrated in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, on 18 June 2023.

Artists in Tatar national costumes greeted the guests who came to celebrate Sabantuy with songs and dances. This year, 30 thousand people visited the “Sabantuy Festival”. Among the guests of the feast were President of Tatarstan State Council Farid Muhametşin, Deputy of the Russian Federal Assembly Aydar Metşin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Control Committee Oleg Morozov and Secretary General of the Union of Agricultural Cities M. Sami Küçüktığlı. The delegation, led by Nizhnekamsk Mayor Ramil Mullin, visited all areas of the square before the start of the events.

Children participating in the holiday celebration gave the guests colorful and enthusiastic moments. Events such as competitions, traditional food stands and craftsmanship workshops were organized for the visitors of the festival. In addition, a special Sabantuy was organized for children. Events such as equestrian competitions, motocross races and traditional wrestling were also held.

Nizhnekamsk Mayor Mullin emphasized how important Sabantuy is to the residents of Nizhnekamsk and the entire republic. “Holidays should have traditions. Patriotism means love of homeland through education and culture. We must pass on the traditions of these holidays from generation to generation, we must not lose our national identity,” Mullin said.

More than 30 thousand visitors attended the festival this year.
