Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) June Administrative Board Meeting was hosted by Rize Municipality on 20 June 2023 with the participation of local administrators from 6 different countries (Azerbaijan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, TRNC and Turkey).
The meeting chaired by TDBB and Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay was hosted by Mayor of Rize Rahmi Metin. The meeting was attended by Secretary General of TDBB Fahri Solak, members of TDBB Board of Directors, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Yüce, President of the Union of Azerbaijan Cities and Municipalities Temraz Tagiyev, Albanian Institute of Local Administrations director Agron Haxhimalı, Bosnia and Herzegovina Novi Grad Mayor Semir Efendıc, Cyprus Turkish Union of Municipalities President and Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, Altınova (Yalova) Mayor Dr. Metin Oral, Başiskele (Kocaeli) Mayor Mehmet Yasin Özlü, Bayrampaşa (Istanbul) Mayor Atila Aydıner, Beykoz (Istanbul) Mayor Murat Aydın, Karatay (Konya) Mayor Hasan Kılca, Selçuklu (Konya) Mayor Ahmet Pekyatımcı, Tavşanlı (Kütahya) Mayor Mustafa Güler, Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş, Sancaktepe Mayor Şeyma Duğucü and Zeytinburnu (Istanbul) Mayor Ömer Arısoy and Kyrgyzstan Tüp Mayor Kaynbek Adiev.
Before the meeting, the sister city protocol of Rize Municipality, hometown of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Tüp Municipality, hometown of Kyrgyzstan President Sadır Caparov, was signed.
The meeting continued with TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak’s discussion of the work carried out since the Board of Directors meeting on March 21, 2023 and the issues on the agenda.
Topics discussed in the meeting are as follows: representation of TDBB, in the “Official Opening Ceremony of Arkadag City” to be held in Turkmenistan on 28-30 June 2023, organizing an experience sharing program for the Kokand, Samarkand, Termiz and Khiva Mayors of Uzbekistan in 2023 in cooperation with TDBB and member municipalities, Under the coordination of TDBB, working towards establishing a sister city relationship between Mogadishu (Somalia) and Sakarya Metropolitan Municipalities, and then organizing an expert training program on “Financial Services and Tax Management in Local Governments” for Mogadishu (Somalia) Municipality, hosted by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality, The “2023-2024 Academic Year Stationery Aid Project” to be carried out for the students in Zeytinburnu district, in cooperation with TDBB and Zeytinburnu Municipality, TDBB’s support for the 11th International Altai Communities Symposium to be held in Kazakhstan on 04-07 July 2023, the publication of the symposium proceedings book by TDBB, and participation in the symposium on behalf of TDBB, Working on signing a “Cooperation Protocol” between TDBB and the Uzbekistan Ministry of Labor in order to develop cooperation and implement joint projects and activities, To carry out work to develop cooperation between TDBB and Kyrgyzstan Central Asia Local Administrations Academy and to implement joint projects and activities, Under the coordination of TDBB, working towards establishing a sister city relationship between Nookat (Kyrgyzstan) Municipality and Altınova (Yalova) Municipality, “513. TDBB’s support to the “Ayvaz Dede Festivals” and participation on behalf of TDBB, Publishing the book “Ottoman State in Historical Russian Maps” among TDBB publications, Upon the invitation of the Uzbekistan Yükseliş Institution, the TDBB Board of Directors Meeting will be held in September 2023 in Uzbekistan, and Abu Dies (Palestine) Municipality’s membership application to TDBB was accepted.
After the meeting, a city tour was organized for the participants by the Rize Municipality and the activities of the municipality were explained to the members of the Board of Directors.
