Maltepe Municipality, a member of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), became sister city with Karshi Municipality, the administrative center of Qashqadaryo City of Uzbekistan.
Mayor of Maltepe Ali Kılıç went to Uzbekistan and visited Mayor of Karshi Normumin Kholboev. During the visit, where a sister city protocol was signed between Maltepe Municipality and Karshi Municipality, more dialogue and cultural cooperation between the peoples of the two countries was promised.
At the sister city protocol signing ceremony held in Karshi on 17 June 2023, Mayor of Maltepe Ali Kılıç stated that he is happy that the two municipalities have signed the sister city protocol and added: “Friendship and brotherhood knows no bounds. As Maltepe, we want to build bridges of friendship and brotherhood wherever we reach. In the next period, we will host our brothers from Karshi Municipality in Istanbul, Maltepe. We would like to contribute to the development of cultural cooperation and friendship ties between the two countries. I would like to thank you for hosting us in the best way.”
On the other hand, Mayor of Karshi Normumin Kholboev thanked Mayor Ali Kılıç and said: “Thanks to our friends coming from Istanbul, we will continue to work on cooperation with different cultures in different fields. I would like to thank Mayor of Maltepe Ali Kılıç and our guests for their visit.”
The Play “Deli (Crazy)” was staged in Uzbek by Turkish Director
Within the scope of the visit, the theater play “Deli (Crazy)” staged by Maltepe Municipality Theater was staged this time by Uzbekistani actors. The play directed by Maltepe Municipality Culture and Art Coordinator Kubilay Erdelikara met with the audience at Qashqadaryo State Theatre.
Republic Exhibition of Uzbek Artists was Held in Maltepe
An exhibition of works of Uzbek artists who participated in the “One Hundred Paintings Workshop in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic” was organized by Maltepe Municipality on March 13, 2023, as part of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. Eleven Uzbek artists had presented their works prepared for the 100th anniversary of the Republic to art lovers at Maltepe Municipality Türkan Saylan Cultural Center. The exhibition featured works by Tatyana Fadeyeva, Sarvinoz Kosimova, Nadira Oripova, Mirvokhid Mirsidov, Ibrahim Valikhodjaev, Huzal Alimatova, Fayzullakhan Akhmadaliev, Erik Kulmanov, Dilshod Azizov, Bakhtiyar Makhkamov and Dinara Kulmanova.
