The Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Delegation, who was in Kyrgyzstan for the opening of the Kusein Karasaev Monument, Museum and Landscaping Project, met with the President of the Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities and Bishkek Metropolitan Municipality Council President Kubaniçbek Kongantiev on 03 June 2023. During the meetings, Sister City Relations and joint project opportunities between Kyrgyzstan local governments and Turkish municipalities were evaluated.

Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities President Kuvanicbek Kongantiev, TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak, Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz, Kyrgyzstan Union of Local Authorities General Manager Bekturgan Orozbaev and TDBB Foreign Relations expert Mairam Baigonusheva attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on the importance of friendly relations in promoting experience sharing programs and joint projects for the development of large and small cities in Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Strengthening cooperation between the cities of the two countries, carrying out practical activities and establishing sister relations between the cities of Bishkek and Konya were discussed. In order to strengthen the cooperation, experience sharing programs on organizing industrial zones in the cities of Konya and Gebze for the Mayors of the cities of Bishkek and Osh were discussed.

Gebze Mayor Büyükgöz gave detailed information about the industrial zones and production volume in Gebze and stated that they would be pleased to share their experiences with the Kyrgyz delegation.

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak stated that Kyrgyzstan is one of the member countries with which TDBB cooperates most actively, and Kyrgyzstan is also represented in the TDBB Board of Directors. Solak said, “TDBB has implemented many projects in Kyrgyzstan since its establishment. We are pleased with the close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan municipalities and local governments.”

Meeting with Roza Otunbayeva Foundation Managers

TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak also met with the General Manager of “Roza Otunbayeva’s Initiative” International Foundation D. Kendirbaeva and Deputy Director R. Kazyikova within the scope of the Kyrgyzstan program. Roza Otunbayeva officials expressed their condolences to Turkey for the earthquake. They congratulated the successful completion of the elections in Turkey and wished success to the re-elected President and parliament. In addition, ideas were exchanged about the positive results of the joint work with TDBB and the “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” International Foundation. The meeting ended with the exchange of ideas on the organization of the education program that the managers of the pre-school education institutions in the villages will attend in Turkey.
