Republic of Uzbekistan Ministry of Labor and Combating Poverty, General Director of Combating Poverty Sardor Rakhmonov and the accompanying delegation visited Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) on 5 May 2023.

The delegation, which met with Secretary General Fahri Solak at the Union Headquarters, was informed about the works of TDBB and the projects for Uzbekistan. During the meeting, Solak said, “We are pleased that Uzbekistan’s cities are our members. Uzbekistan is represented by Kokand Municipality in the Board of Directors of the Union. In order to further develop relations with Uzbekistan, we can go a long way with joint projects and sister urban studies, with Uzbekistan municipalities becoming members of the Union. We continue our work in this area. We can cooperate with the Ministry of Labor and Combating Poverty in education, culture and other fields, as well as with the other Institutions of Uzbekistan”.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation of Uzbekistan, General Director of Combating Poverty Sardor Rakhmonov said, “We would like to see Turkey’s efforts to combat poverty on site. We have recently signed a cooperation protocol with China on this issue. We are also in talks with Japan and Korea. In this context, it is very important for us to get the experience of our Turkish brothers. On this occasion, we want to make programs that will refresh the knowledge of our managers on the subject and increase their knowledge on this subject. With a protocol we will also sign with TDBB, we will be able to see the related works on site and to receive training, especially internship programs through sister municipalities, to get information about the working principles of small and medium-sized enterprises, and to provide tourism services, etc. We would like to exchange information in many areas,” he said.

Later, the delegation met with TDBB Vice President and Mayor of Beykoz Murat Aydın.

The visit ended with a photo shoot for the memory of the day.
